Carmen: We've recently graduated the first cohort of the We Rise program, which was a huge milestone. Twelve black-owned businesses in the state of Arizona graduated from the We Rise program better equipped to understand how to operate their businesses—a business model that they developed, along with a business plan, and access to capital.

Both problems can be deeply interdependent and can result in severe and sometimes fatal outcomes for patients. To combat these problems, Medisend is developing an on-demand medicine delivery platform and proprietary algorithms to make obtaining medication convenient, faster, and cheaper.

Shyamli: In April and May 2021, India was hit by a deadly surge of Covid-19 that devastated —and continues to devastate—the lives and livelihoods of millions across the country. At the time, the crisis was particularly grave: hospitals and healthcare workers were overwhelmed, patients lacked oxygen and critical supplies, and millions were thrust into poverty and loss. I co-led an effort to bring South Asian students from across the US to help those battling Covid-19 and its far-reaching consequences in India. Together, we hailed from more than 35 university organizations in the United States and raised over $450,000 to support non-profits across rural and urban India.
