Abbie Strabala: Changing the Fundraising Narrative for Female Founders

Abbie Strabala: Changing the Fundraising Narrative for Female Founders
Abbie: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! Increasing representation of those who haven't historically sat at the table. True Wealth Ventures invests in early-stage, women-led companies improving human or environmental health. In 2022, across the US, 2% of venture capital (VC) dollars went to all-female-founded companies, according to PitchBook. For companies with a male in the founding leadership, that number jumped to 14.9%. For all-female teams, the numbers have changed little in the last ten years. In fact, VC dollars for all-female companies sat at 2% in 2012 and peaked at 2.9% in 2013. Meanwhile, the trajectory for male and female teams more than doubled from 6.9% in that decade. True Wealth Ventures hopes to change that narrative for female founders.

Roy Kessel: Building More Inclusive Communities Through Sports

Roy Kessel: Building More Inclusive Communities Through Sports
Roy: It’s great to be here, Spiffy! Our vision is to build stronger, healthier, and more inclusive communities through sports. We do that by creating opportunities for access to sports by working to pay participation fees, find sports equipment, gain access to training facilities, provide transportation, and supply tickets to sporting events. Our mascot named SPORTe is spelled with an “E” because sports are for everyone, and not with a “Y” because nobody should have to ask WHY they cannot play sports.

Pauline Eluère: Communicating To Make People Care About Refugees
Pauline: It’s great to be here, Spiffy! I work for the UNHCR, which is tasked with protecting 100 million people forced to flee their homes because of war and violence. My work is to communicate about refugees and to make people care and take action. I create campaigns for our offices worldwide and I also mobilize tens of thousands of young people to advocate for refugees through a network called the Young Champions for Refugees.
