Sonal: Thank you so much for having me, Spiffy! The American Heart Association mission is to advance education and access for all to ensure everyone lives a healthy life. Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer, while stroke is in second place? We are striving to change this by providing the resources for education, research, and knowledge to have a global impact in all. The goal is simple yet lofty—to have all live a healthy lifestyle for good heart health, which includes education of the need for healthy eating, exercise, finding solutions to limit tobacco at congress level, education on the value of good sleep, healthy living, checking your blood work, and knowing the disastrous impact when any of these activities are imbalanced.
Françoise: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! Long before I founded TOON, I worked on RAW magazine, a graphics magazine that declared “comics aren’t just for kids anymore!”, and while it definitely helped bring comics into universities, museums, bookstores and libraries for adults, I felt kids got left behind in that process. I founded RAW Junior in 1998, to make the kinds of books—and comics—that I wanted to read with my young children.
Brighton: Great to be here, Spiffy! The UN Sustainable Development Network was established to mobilize global scientific and technological expertise in order to promote practical solutions for sustainable development, including the implementation of the Paris agreement. UN SDSN Youth, an official youth wing of the UN SDSN, provides unparalleled opportunities to global youth through training, business incubation, global citizenship, and partnership necessary to accelerate youth solutions for sustainable development. We take young people through a tried-and-tested pathway of understanding the SDGs in relation to the challenges their communities face, while empowering them with the key competencies to co-create local solutions to the sustainable development goals.
