The Desi VC is an initiative to educate and bring together the people who are interested in learning about, and getting involved with, the Indian venture capital ecosystem.

Fei: Thanks so much for having me, Spiffy. Well, with climate change, automation, shifting economies of influence — the world is going through a lot of change and complexity. To navigate these changes, I believe we need better businesses and better people who are equipped to lead with foresight, empathy, and agility. On top of that, I believe that the model for higher education is broken. All of our learning happens in four years at the start of your career, even though the most in-demand roles didn't exist 10 years ago. NewCampus is building a business school for working learners, starting with management training. We envision a world where learning integrates into your lifestyle and enables your career.

Amaan: Thank you Spiffy! In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), there are almost seven million migrant workers from places like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines and more. Most of these workers have to leave their families back home, and end up only meeting their families once every few years. It causes a whole lot of loneliness, depression, and unease. The first goal we had was to eradicate this sense of loneliness, and we began by going to the labor accommodations and distributing food during the month of Ramadan. But then we thought, why stop there? Why just focus on a Muslim Holiday? My group and I believed in the power of social harmony and the rising need for it in today's world, so we expanded the drives to include Christmas, Onam, New Years, and many more cultural events!
