It's estimated that 30-40% of it becomes garbage, and being in landfills contributes to the rise of greenhouse gas emissions! Urban Agriculture Cooperative aims to make an impact in food system inefficiencies and poverty by reducing inequality across the supply chain and by prioritizing local food purchasing and skills development.

Chris: There are lots of different groups and organizations working on positive social progress and doing good around the world, including non-profits, governments, activists, schools, foundations, and others. The challenge most of these organizations face is that "doing good" can be very hard to measure, even though it's important for communicating what you do and understanding where and how you can improve. Brightest exists to make it easier for organizations doing good to understand what's going on, and count and measure their positive impact.

So, we reduce the litter that lines the streets of the South Bronx sidewalks and community gardens by hosting weekly clean-ups. In the beginning, what motivated me was my love for my borough and its history. That love continues to motivate me. It’s less about picking up trash and more about building community connections through our love for our neighborhoods and green spaces.
