Michael Schrader: Developing Technology for the Future of Vaccines
Michael: Pleased to be here, Spiffy! What if I told you that the days of vaccines being associated with making appointments, traveling to clinics, and receiving uncomfortable shots will soon come to an end? Vaxess Technologies, along with teams at Tufts University and MIT, have developed the MIMIX platform: a vaccine patch technology. With the MIMIX platform, Vaxess is working towards a future where vaccines for the majority of illnesses—from flu to COVID— can be administered via a vaccine patch that’s as easy and painless to apply as a Band-Aid.

Allie Ticktin: Early Childhood Development Through Play

Allie Ticktin: Early Childhood Development Through Play
Allie: Happy to be here, Spiffy! At Play 2 Progress we help set children up for success by partnering with families to address early child development from birth through early elementary. We empower parents to understand how to play with their baby to benefit their development and engage their sensory system, which is key to building critical neural connections in the brain. Additionally, we provide a community to connect like-minded parents. The three main ways we set up a strong foundation for development and act both preventatively and reactively are by addressing social emotional regulation, meeting physical milestones, and facilitating a community of like-minded parents. We do all of this through play which means our days are filled with fun!

Dr. Sonal Bhatia: Advancing Awareness, Education, Resources for Good Heart Health
Sonal: Thank you so much for having me, Spiffy! The American Heart Association mission is to advance education and access for all to ensure everyone lives a healthy life. Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer, while stroke is in second place? We are striving to change this by providing the resources for education, research, and knowledge to have a global impact in all. The goal is simple yet lofty—to have all live a healthy lifestyle for good heart health, which includes education of the need for healthy eating, exercise, finding solutions to limit tobacco at congress level, education on the value of good sleep, healthy living, checking your blood work, and knowing the disastrous impact when any of these activities are imbalanced.
