Maya Monroe: Using Basketball as a Means to Promote Gender Equality
Maya: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! Basketball is the only sport that since its creation has been completely inclusive and diverse. Recognizing the transformative power of it, we use the game of basketball to empower and promote gender equality, build self-confidence, and foster skills among women and girls. By providing access to sports programs, mentorship, and support networks, we aim to create an inclusive and empowering environment where women and girls can thrive. In doing so, we provide communities with a host of social service programs including those impacting, health, education, and socio-economic advancement.

Aral Surmeli: Providing Refugees Access to Healthcare
Aral: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! Being displaced means you lose access to important health services that you normally get in your hometown. Particularly, refugee women and children experience adverse health outcomes, such as access to routine vaccines, care during pregnancy, sexual health needs. We at HERA Digital Health address these issues by helping them navigate the health services in their host communities.

Amit Gadkari: Ensuring Mental Well-Being of Student-Athletes

Amit Gadkari: Ensuring Mental Well-Being of Student-Athletes
Amit: Thanks for having me, Spiffy. Our primary focus is on the mental well-being and performance enhancement of student-athletes. We typically categorize student-athletes as those students who are engaged in competitive sports. They are subject to immense pressure both on and off the field. Our qualified sports psychologists work with them at an individual as well as group level where they focus on their holistic development. With our mental conditioning program, key issues such as performance pressure, fear of failure, lack of motivation, peer pressure, and handling failure are tackled through personalized programs. Apart from this, we work with parents and coaches as statistics have indicated them to be a primary reason for a student-athlete to quit the sport at an early age.
