Abhi: Thanks for having me, Spiffy. I was chosen to be a 2022 summer intensive scholar by Girls Who Invest—it was a life-changing experience! Girls Who Invest was founded by Seema R. Hingorani and aims to increase the number of women in portfolio management and executive leadership in the investment management industry.
John: Thanks for having me, Spiffy. In light of today’s global challenges, a different kind of business leader is needed. If we want to change the way business is managed, then we must change the way it is taught. PRME works to help business and management schools prepare students to address the world’s crises by transforming knowledge, practice, and skills. PRME provides various tools and spaces for integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across business and leadership education activities, such as curriculum development, research, work-based learning, etc.
Joanna: It’s great to be here, Spiffy! Illumen Capital’s mission is to reduce racial and gender bias in investing and entrepreneurship. In other words, the challenge we address is to increase racial and gender diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in who is hired as an investor and which entrepreneurs or founders get investment dollars. Illumen does this by working with investors to identify and reduce their own biases and then subsequently coaching investors to implement new initiatives and actions to increase diverse representation and make investing more equitable.
