Larisa Schelkin: Enhancing Access to Quality STEM Education

Larisa: It’s great to be here, Spiffy! As a partner of the Global Learning and Observations to benefit the Environment Program (GLOBE) of the United States (US) National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Global STEM Education Center addresses key challengesenhancing access to quality science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education, fostering global environmental awareness, and promoting hands-on learning and equipping students with skills in research, technology, and environmental stewardship. Collaborating with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the United Nations General Assembly Science Summit, and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), we support environmental science diplomacy through education, furthering our mission to prepare young learners for global challenges and opportunities in STEM fields.

Sarah Fuller: Helping Children Learn and Thrive Around the World

Sarah Fuller: Helping Children Learn and Thrive Around the World
Sarah: It’s great to be here, Spiffy! Did you know that all children (including your audience!) have basic rights? It’s the job of the government to make sure that children are safe, have access to clean water and healthy food, and can go to school, learn, rest, and play. But in many places around the world, these rights are not fulfilled. As humans continue to damage the environment, it is becoming even harder for children’s basic needs to be met. My work focuses on making sure that children can go to school and learn, they are safe even when disasters occur, and we all work together to address the climate and environmental crisis so that all children, now and in the future, can learn.

Will Wiseman: Helping Fund Community-Based Solar Projects

Will Wiseman: Helping Fund Community-Based Solar Projects
Will: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! Many people feel like climate change is an urgent problem but they feel powerless to make a difference. There's a huge problem where people want to use their money to make a difference but don't know how because of greenwashing. At the same time, there's a shortage of funding for solar projects below USD 5 million, since banks focus on utility-scale projects (over USD 100 million) and solar power for our homes (below USD 50,000). Now with Climatize, anyone can invest in fighting climate change by funding solar projects in their community with as little as USD 10!
